dear Dr Batmanghelidj,
just finished 3rd edition of 'your body's many cries for water'. what is the next deeper read to follow on this?
a few questions off the top...
are sucralose, xylitol, monk fruit better options than the sweeteners you noted as detrimental?
is dark chocolate 70% cacao (70-80 grams caffeine in a bar) as bad as all other caffeine? avoid it?
someone in the know in the health food urban farming grow your own side of things said once that your body doesn't care if it's real sugar or artificial sugar, it's all poison. do you see it that way or is maple syrup a significantly safer form of sugar?
you didnt write this, but one of your testimonials alluded to you advising "no mineral water". should it be avoided? what's wrong with it? I drink gerolsteiner and it adds a little body to the water.
how do we best hydrate before bed and during the night to not contribute to additional bathroom trips? i get up 4-8x/night as it is.
you suggest a quarter teaspoon salt to each quart of water, but is that in addition to, or including, seasoning salt on foods?
it's unscientific as i didnt look before extra hydrating, but after 10 days higher water intake, the mild edema in my lower legs is 70% gone and the dusty shins are less flaky.
btw, two 1hr walks is flatly impossible for many due to work/tasks or injuries ex. my one knee starts to flare up after 15 minutes so my walks tend to go 8 minutes in each direction and do the neuropathy, good posture is going and it's getting more and more difficult to walk properly. might 15 minutes on a bike or a rower even at a casual pace equate walking an hour?
i'm also trying the salt tongue tip as anti-histamine/anti-anxiety to fall asleep with, but sometimes 3-4 dashes on tongue isn't enough so i pop a 10mg atarax to zonk out, but wonder how many dashes of salt on the tongue i can do before giving up.
what about decaf coffee and alcohol free beer do those contribute more functional liquid and less diuretics?
in a unscientific observation, i found if I drink decaf coffee I will have more/stronger urges to pee unable to hold it longer than 3 hours vs two days I drank no coffee and was able to hold it 6+ hours.
do the various neuropathies respond well to hydration; autonomic, sensory and motor?
do you know about methylation MTHFR enzyme impairment?
i'm super interested on your expert take regarding autonomic, motor and sensory neuropathies as well as associated MTHFR methylation impairments (ex the compound hetero variant) as I have both.
re yoghurt, due to gut gas/gerd type issues, my naturopath has me avoiding yoghurt, specially histamine-producing strains: casei, bulgaricus, rheuteri. but all yoghurt i find has either casei or bulgaricus! is there any i can eat?
if you get melanoma can you water salt hydrate it away or is it to late, it must be cut out?
the one line in the book that didn't seem to fit the rest was when you noted you don't believe the sun causes melanoma citing how in Tehran you played tennis 6 days a week 3 hours a day for 20 years in the hot sun and had no issues.
but we all know people who lived long lives into 80s/90s smoking and drinking to the end without issue. to me it seems like some gene-combos are more susceptible to fall prey to issues and some are not, and maybe some regions may have more protection from sun UV.
i'm interested in hearing more about your take on melanoma.
thanks for this work/discovery.
wolfgang
