PD is clinically diagnosed, based on medical history and a physical exam, there's no lab or imaging test that can make the diagnosis.
it's best to see a movement disorder specialist, a neurologist with specialized training, in the physical exam they will look for 4 specific things:
- resting tremor: shaking on one side at rest
- stiffness: rigidity
- slowness: bradykinesia
- walking/balance problems

separately, i used the link on a michaeljfox.org page to the Movement Disorders Specialist Finder and entered 94596 and found 10 specialists within 25 miles... and it too pointed me to Dr Massa in Walnut Creek, so he's a likely contender to visit next it would seem...
