i shot the 2min video below in order to send a link to local tv news to investigate and before i wash this oily gunk 'evidence' off my car. i've been washing this off my car for years now and writing about it, but it's now pretty clear where it's coming from and what our health may be reacting to. breathe fine aerosol mist oil for months and nothing good is likely to come from it.
i put msm news story at end, but look at KTVU's photo of the sky over chevron's richmond refinery during a level 1 flaring event and compare it to the haze we see now, pre- and post- fire season, and put the puzzle pieces together.

extra thick black oil coats car (region air/grass/lungs) day after refinery flaring 25+ miles away

Did you notice an oily aerosol covering your car this morning? My car had an extra thick coating of gritty dried 'rust dust' atop an oil aerosol base (not the first time, happens 10-20x per summer/fall, some days thicker than others). Today, it was thicker than usual, drooling down the sides.
It has a rust appearance (on cars) and is black when you wipe it off. I saw it make local news 7/20 in Richmond after a level 1 flaring event 730p on 7/17.
Based on black oil-dust coating Richmond neighborhoods the same way, I'm now forced to suspect what's on my car all these year is oil aerosol floating 25+ miles from the refineries. It's so obvious that it's embarrassing I didn't suspect it years ago when i started noticing this.

As a skeptic contrarian, I have reason to believe climate change data indicate it is all due to 200+ year natural cycles repeating, not caused by CO2/man. But this violation of our health needs to be known and challenged as this evidence is in your face (literally), it is making us ill in a myriad of ways, killing us for years.
Rust is the dust that comes with it, and it seems to mix and stick to the black oil base. And it doesn't wipe easily, with water you wipe up half, smear the rest, need a pressure hose to wash it off as i did 10 days ago.

My car had a thicker coat of oil all over it today (atop thinner daily coats over last 10 days since i last power washed the car). In today's AM news Richmond residents report the same, and my eyes are irritated, and I can see that rusty haze, so I check the air quality and and it's under 55 baqi, under the threshold, not good (under 50 people start wearing masks).
So the fine oil aerosol coating on the car in Alamo would seem to be floating 25+ miles across a wide region from Richmond and/or the Martinez refineries.
7/19 I had my first dizzy spell getting out of car since Feb/Mar. I left house with mild nausea a few days of last 10 (more than usual) and have felt my breathing more challenging on brisk walks and easy short jogs. And that rusty haze of particles is back in the sky. All could well relate to each other.
MSM News
after seeing this photo of the rusty haze 'pollution' we see a lot of in the bay area (pre- and post-fires) plus the black oil rust dust coating all surfaces in the region for years, it all started adding up...
