mom keeps asking what causes all my various neuropathies which i addressed in a jun 2019 post (as i forget too over time).
MTHFr is known to cause an array of neuropathies incl dozens, if not all, of my symptoms. in short, my MTHFr impaired methylation and the associated vitamin/enzyme deficiency can lead to neuropathy:
my neuropathic journey: renegade doctors and the bright side | What Causes Neuropathy & How To Treat It (incl B12 Deficiency) 6/2019
so any specialist should be versed in MTHFr gene/enzyme methylation vit B impairment that can't process/convert (or benefit from) vitamin B nutrients orally, so need methylated B vitamins.
most neurologists will not be up enough on this to help beyond measure/confirm my hunches. the conservative ones have advised more water less alcohol caffeine sweetener stimulants. others will prescribe strong risky rx that compound problems ex seizure pharmaceuticals that often work for 6 months, introduce new issues then slowly stop working.
I try to make my vitamin shake daily, but it physically pains me to stand to prep it (must lay down between making it and taking it) and i dont do well with strict routines, so tend to miss 2 or 3 days/week.
and i still haven't tried the recommended B vitamin injections suggested by Kate Troup naturopath several times since roughly 2017 as i wanted to see if oral methyl vitamins would work. she's in australia but can organize a local practitioner to administer it. she is my affordable telehealth naturopath who knows my mthfr, similar talent locally cost much more (see list below). i havent seen her since feb 2020.
even my GP meza has suggested B12 vitamin injections. so i will get more clarification from kate on this, then may try a shot.
the other specialists I could use:
1. a core strength Pilates / Trainer to help optimize posture alignments. steve schwab raved about one in lafayette.
2. one to get me off blood pressure RX safely without requiring a no-meat vegetarian diet to do it.
Danville Neuropathy Center now features the SANEXAS healing therapy (the flier says):
- healing regenerating nerve visibly on film
- restore normal sensation
- feel better do more, return to a more active lifestyle.
they told me briefly how it works (over the phone):
1. a nurse practitioner measures nerve status/response.2. then takes biopsy #1 of tissue.3. then give vit B complex injections to target sites.4. admin sanexas stimulation treatment to interact with the vitamins.5. take biopsy #2 to show progress.
paid a visit to this local neuropathy clinic to see if they know MTHFr and can dose methylated B vitamins in the injections. front desk had no clue and went back to ask the nurse who also had no clue, luckily Dr Filipini overheard it and recited what he knew.
Dr Filipini knew all about MTHFR and how the liver can't break down B vitamins ex folic acid so you need to give it methylated B vitamins. so I asked about methylated B vitamins re the injections. he said: injections bypass the liver so it's not a problem, it applies more to oral nutrition. that sounds sensible, so will next bounce that off kate and ask her to clarify or validate that idea.
initial consult is $135 talk session.
2nd appt $275 for testing (& biopsy).
per treatment $250 for 20 total ($5000).
