Why Did I Decide to Cofound SelfDecode

When I sequenced my genetics from 23andme, I started looking for a program to upload my data to and analyze it.

All of them were horrible.

Some companies didn't provide any information and it was useless (just a pdf – MTHFR support, Genetic Genie).

Other companies didn't cite the information they did provide, and much of it was just false (Yasko, Nutrahacker).

If a company provided information with citations, it was even more difficult to understand than me reading directly from the scientific literature (Livewello).

Promethease wasn't very helpful, but it wasn't bad either.  For $5, it was the only worthwhile purchase.

Other companies are coming online, but they all charge a lot (close to $100) to only look at less than 100 SNPs.

SelfDecode has 6400 SNPs from the new 23andme chip and 700 SNPs with custom made content (and counting).

SelfDecode can analyze ~8700 SNPs in total (but the new 23andme chip only has 6400).

I'm happy to announce that SelfDecode has launched!  This has been my pet project for a bit and now it's finally ready to get released into the wild.

So far, everyone who has used the program has told me that it is the best genetic analyzer around.

The cost to access is only $19, which is significantly cheaper than all of our competitors (who have inferior software and information).

If you don't have your genes tested, I suggest you get your genes sequenced by 23andme and then upload them to SelfDecode.

Because of some changes to the site, we recommend you reupload your file using the connect to 23andme.
