Details
Analysis of the levels of toxic metals in urine after the administration of a metal detoxification agent is an objective way to evaluate the accumulation of toxic metals. Acute metal poisoning is rare. More common, however, is a chronic, low-level exposure to toxic metals that can result in significant retention in the body that can be associated with a vast array of adverse health effects and not chronic disease.
Tests Include:
Aluminum, Antimony, Arsenic, Barium, Beryllium, Bismuth, Boron, Cadmium, Calcium, Cesium, Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Gadolinium, Iron, Lead, Lithium, Magnesium, Manganese, Mercury, Molybdenum, Nickel, , Palladium, , Phosphorus, Platinum, Potassium, Selenium, Sodium, Strontium, Sulfur, Tellurium, Thallium, Thorium, Tin, Tungsten, Uranium, Vanadium, and Zinc.
It is recommended that you omit fish and shellfish from your diet for one week prior to collecting the urine specimen. You should also refrain from taking non-essential medications or dietary supplements and gadolinium-based contrast media (used in MRI) for 48 hours prior to and during the specimen collection, unless otherwise instructed by your physician.
Female patients should not collect urine during a menstrual period.
