Courteney Cox changed diet after discovering gene mutation

i wish she would tell someone which of the 8 variations of MTHFR she has (maybe add a dozen other genetic aberrations to profile) and tell us, besides folic acid, what foods were not good for her that she cut out of her diet.  that would make for a great article/reveal.  maybe i need to go interview her to ask the right Qs.

Courteney Cox had to change her diet after discovering certain favourite foods were affecting her good health.

The former Friends star got tested for the MTHFR gene mutation after a miscarriage and the death of her dad, and learned she had a gene mutation that affected how her body absorbs methyl groups, leading to a variety of health problems.

"I'm a really good eater," she tells Newbeauty.com. "About four years ago I found out I have something called a MTHFR gene mutation, which dictates how my body methylates.

"I suffered miscarriages, my dad died of a really rare cancer, and depression runs in my family, which made my doctor think I should get this gene checked out. I discovered that I have the worst version of this mutation and my body doesn't methylate the way it's supposed to. Once I found out how I could absorb nutrients and protect myself from toxins, my whole life shifted."

Courteney's gene mutation drained her of her energy after she ate certain foods, but a change in her diet and additional vitamin supplements helped her overhaul her health.

"I felt so much better and had more energy," she adds. "I used to get so tired and would literally crumble after I ate something. Now I give myself a shot of methylated B-12 daily."  [that's the milionaire mainstream path, most folks do not go that extreme.]

She also had to change what she was putting into her body when she was pregnant with her daughter Coco: "I took folic acid like you're supposed to, but I learned later that it wasn't good for me. I have to take a methylfolate and methylated Bs, and then I can absorb it."
