as i thought, you got your results back weeks ago and sat on it, never said a word, even with my two email reminders. why? because, as you've clearly voiced, its causing you some anxiety aka you're afraid of 'knowing more'. but knowledge is empowering, never bad. you like to wonder about stuff, i like to find the answers.
i promise you, no tool in the world spells out what we are going to die of, no tool or person can tell us that. and you're not a hypochondriac, so there's no real risk or harm in knowing the blueprint that your creator/fate gave your grandparents. none.
you and i both know your spit test was not to discover what we already knew about "our" shared geneological information. that was the 5% bonus - icing on the cake. the purpose was to get your raw file into a SNP reader so i can see what i got from germanic side and deduce what i got from my hispanic side in addition.
most likely some doctors might advise folks with your specific SNPs should avoid gluten/dairy/soy (a common advisory for all MTHFRs and folks over age 50). that would be no surprise. it might advise MTHFRs take Mg and switch your vitamin complex to methylated forms. that's anticipated too. and like everyone else there's some % risk of some forms of neurological/dimentia that increases with age.
but i already knew all that, so the benefits of more knowledge outweigh the known risks of 'not knowing' what's draining/taxing/aging our systems, causing us both excess histamine/mucus and 'colds/allergies', blood pressure/vessels issue, aura/migraines, or causing you to 'miss' a word every other sentence* when you hearing is fine.
and doing it before you get older, more senile, stubborn or stuck in your ways, can actually provide you key information you may need to help you avoid those things. remember, this is about finding out how to resolve symptoms we have had for years, not any future ones we dont, about IDing what substances incl rx/supplements/foods will work for or against our unique SNP profile aka what rx drugs/foods may be good to limit/curtail or avoid to optimize one's strength/health.
if you're a control freak like me, you'd not want to be sedated by doctors, operated on, put in a straight jacket, you'd not trust all lab coats as much as self, you'd seek out best solutions based on best logic/science based knowledge available.
i'd prefer to wait until you see the merit and get minimally engaged and see you download your own file and upload it free to geneticgenie.com, but if that's too high a hurdle, then in a few weeks, we can sit together and i'll download your data and run it into 3 cost-free processors.
obviously our DNA is passed along many generations, 500-1000 years traceable in one swab, so these are genotype maps that were put into each of us at conception that impact our enzyme production, biochemical balances, health wellness and how effectively we detox. again, for me its not about this or that 'disease risk' but chronic symptoms we've lived with for decades like excess histamine/mucus.
i can half assume your Hcy is higher than the optimal range 7-8.0 (or was prior to your bp rx) and am still waiting on you to show me your Hcy # that cardiologists order up. i'd also like to see your last full bloodwork vita/minerals to spot check about 6 items, but the important one i've hinted at via a blog post is your Hcy #.
*i now believe you, that you're hearing is not at issue, think your hearing mirrors mine and is ok in the vocal range unless excess background noise, trust you hear everything consistently from beginning of a dialog to the end, yet somehow something causes a 'disconnect' aka 'words drop out' every other sentence, confusing you, forcing all to repeat - even wearing the hearing aid doesn't help this phenomena - i've seen it with guests, with mom, with everyone you dialog with.
in my humble amateur diagnoses, this may already be a type of early clue of an oddity. something worth looking into and trying to correct before whatever it is progresses unchecked. understanding people without so much confusion would be a great benefit and if a few food changes and supplements are a simple course of action, then lets check the SNPs to find out which combo would work best for you.

second sending. lmk when you get your results back. if you sent it off when you said, then i'm half certain you must have by now. did you use your real name?

i used an alias just to see if i could. it does work, but its probably more fun to use your real name now that all your friends are starting to get their ancestral DNA checked too.
short list of where to upload raw file to get health reports that help map/outline what key nutrient and pharma will hurt/conflict with or help your system best:geeneticgenie paypal donationprometheus $5livewello $19nutrahacker $39selfdecode $59because epigenomics is bleeding edge science in its first decade of discovery, minor corrections and updates to each SNP based on newer clinical studies are constantly made to databases that cascade to the different services, and some of these sites look at this or that SNP from one angle, while others read it from another, so you get mildly different interpretations from each interpreter.
